Ideally, a trekking boot should provide firm support on rough paths yet remain comfortable throughout daylong trail walks. The Monida meets both goals with a combination of intelligent design and hi-tech materials. The waterproof nubuck and nylon uppers are ‘board lasted’ to prevent undue lateral flexing. Beneath this, a special midsole softens the impact of stony ground. Finally, the boot is fitted with a Hypergrip Approach outsole for reliable grip on a wide variety of surfaces. Inside, the footbed uses six precision components to support and cushion the foot. Softened skin is vulnerable to blistering, so on long walks it is especially important to keep the feet dry. The Monida achieves this with a waterproof yet breathable sock insert lining. Despite all these advanced features, the Monida remains remarkably lightweight, further reducing fatigue on long walks.
