THE COMFORT TEMPERATURE MEN is defined as the lowest temperature at which an ‘average’ adult male (25 yrs. / 70 kg / 173 cm) can expect to sleep comfortably in a relaxed position. This range is designed to ensure a comfortable night's sleep, particularly for those who are not accustomed to colder environments.
THE EXTREME TEMPERATURE rating is a survival only rating, applicable to an ‘average’ adult. This is the lowest temperature at which the person is expected to survive in a sleeping bag, without necessarily sleeping comfortably. At this temperature, there is a risk of hypothermia if exposed for more than brief periods, and there is also a significant risk of other cold-related injuries such as frostbite.

The Orion Premium 550 XL is a 3-season mummy sleeping bag that keeps you warm at temperatures down to -6°C. With a packed size of 29 x 20 x 20 cm and a weight of just 995 grams, it is ideal for backpacking trips, mountain hikes or long cycling tours where every gram counts.
This sleeping bag is ideal for people with a bodylenght up to 205 cm. The extra 15 cm of length and 2 cm of width, compared to the regular Orion Premium 550, offers more space to sleep comfortably.

High quality for a good night’s sleep
The Orion Premium 550 XL is made from ultra-lightweight, breathable nylon that feels soft against the skin. It is lined with ultra-soft, breathable nylon that has been treated with Polygiene® technology, an antibacterial finish that keeps the sleeping bag fresh and odour-free for longer. The sleeping bag is insulated with duck down to provide optimal warmth down to at least -6°C, making it highly suitable for spring, summer and autumn camping. As arms and feet tend to cool down fastest when resting, this sleeping bag features extra insulation in the chest area and a 3D footbox that offers more space for your feet and warm air.
Features
The Orion Premium 550 XL Mummy Sleeping Bag features a padded hood with adjustable drawcord to retain warmth around your head. Additinally, the padded neck collar and zipper baffle help to keep cold out and warmth in. Need extra ventilation? The practical two-way YKK zipper allows you to open the bag from the foot end, ideal for nights when you want some airflow around your legs. Small essentials such as a headlamp or phone can be safely stored in the internal pocket.
Thanks to the PFC-free coating, the sleeping bag is water-repellent without the use of harmful chemicals. The down insulation has also been treated with a water-repellent finish, improving performance in damp conditions.
After use, the Orion Premium 550 XL can easily be aired using the hanging loops at the foot end. It can then be packed down compactly into the included compression sack. For long-term storage, use the spacious and breathable mesh storage bag.
Recommended body length
The recommended maximum body length for this sleeping bag is 205 cm. If you don't need the extra space (up to 195 cm), we recommend the regular Orion Premium 550 Mummy Sleeping Bag.
Comfort temperature
The Orion Premium 550 XL Mummy Sleeping Bag is suitable for cooler nights in spring, summer and autumn. The comfort temperature is approximately 0°C for women and -6°C for men. Never use this sleeping bag at temperatures below -24°C. Planning trips to warmer regions? We recommend the Orion Premium 250 XL or 350 XL.
